Unlike most games, our Alignment system works on two axes, Loyalty and
Compassion. The reason for this is that a key part of MMRPG: History Retold is
question “What is Good and what is Evil?”. Each Alignment has an incentive and each
is measured on a scale of 1-5. One being completely devoid of that trait, 3 being dead
center neutral, and five being the epitome of what it means be loyal or compassionate.
Here are the Alignments:
Compassion
5 – Hero – You are as compassionate, kind, and caring as they come. – You get an
extra days worth of gains from money questing
4 – Noble – You are compassionate, kind, and caring but have your moments. – You
get one day taken off of finisher learning.
3 – Neutral – You are like the average guy when it comes to compassion. – You get
one day extra time credit when awarded.
2 – Maniac – You don’t mind causing pain and suffering, and are very capable of
killing without remorse. – Your weapon gets +1 to damage.
1 – Psychopath – All that matters is you. Everyone else is just a tool. – Armor is 50%
cheaper.
Loyalty
5 – Fanatic – You are blindly loyal to your cause or team. – You get a single extra
session from Intense Training.
4 – Dedicated – You are loyal to your cause or team, but know when they’ve crossed
the line. – Post-Soul Technique cool down time is reduced by one day.
3 – Neutral – You are just as loyal as the average guy. – You may start with one Misc.
Ability
2 – Disloyal – You won’t hesitate to switch sides if the other better suits your needs,
but realize the magnitude of betrayal. - +1 to any single Attribute
1 – Untrustworthy – You’ll flip the moment circumstances change or a better deal
arises. – +10 to any single skill
Picking your Alignment
Alignment, in this game, CAN CHANGE. So how your character starts out IS IN NO
WAY THE WAY HE/SHE WILL ALWAYS BE. So keep this in mind when you pick your
starting alignment. It takes 1,000 words in an Extended Story to change one part of
your Alignment by one either direction, so it will be NEAR impossible for a Fanatical
Hero to become an Untrustworthy Psychopath.
Also note that when playing, you are expected to generally stay within the bounds of
your Alignment, for instance we shouldn’t be seeing someone who’s untrustworthy
sticking around on the Rebellion when the CRU is offering him more to switch over, or
see a Hero slaughtering innocent civilians. Please refer to the page about Rational
Play for more information.
When you pick, remember to pick a number for both, Loyalty being the first number in
coordinate form. So a 5,5 is 5 Loyalty and 5 Compassion, in that order. That makes
you a “Fanatical Hero”.
3,3 would be Perfect Neutral.
1,1 would be Untrustworthy Psychopath.
