Protoman is the one who began it all, being the first Reploid ever
built. He watched as the coming of Reploids brought on a new
era of prosperity. He was also the first to watch it collapse.
Shortly after he was shown to the world, Dr. Light and Wily
decided to let Protoman live a free life, and released him into the
world.
Most of his life was spent exploring the globe and living life as the
first truly sentient robot, but when things collapsed Protoman
realized he could not sit by and allow the world to destroy itself in
revolution and war.
Protoman made his way to South America where a recent
political collapse was causing chaos in the area. After many
weeks of campaigning ideals of peace and equality, Protoman
gained influence in what was left of Aregentina, and there he
began his nation, the Proto Mekvah. He quickly gain support
through the southern part of the continent and his nation soon
had it’s flag in all of it, with the northern half being controlled by
the Red Alert Syndicate.
In order to match the power of the Western Reploid Union to the
north, Axl, leader of the R.A.S. entered into an alliance with
Protoman. Realizing that he needed to maintain importance in
the eyes of other world leaders, Protoman began a military
campaign into Wily-held Africa while simultaneous funding a sort
of Cold War with the Western Reploid Union, all while spreading
his ideals of equality among all forms of life.
But in mid-2203, disaster strikes. The WRU tears through
Protoman’s forces in Columbia, wiping out what had been his
primary military force. Needleman’s forces begin to move south,
quickly engulfing most of the Proto Mekvah.
In a negotiation with Needleman, and agreement is reached that
Protoman will surrender all of his South American territory and in
exchange Needleman will rebuild the Proto Mekvah in Africa.
By 2205, that agreement is fulfilled and the Proto Mekvah is now
stronger than ever, controlling most of Africa.
Protoman, inspired by how dedicatedly Needleman stuck to his
word and the fact that he allowed Protoman to keep governing
his own land, becomes extremely loyal to the WRU, never once
wavering despite many attempts by Megaman X to get him to
switch to the New World Alliance.

III, still serving as leader of the African Reploid Union even into
